Transportation Routing & Cubing Tool

Transportation is one of the key functions for distributors in terms of cost and customer service. Distributors spend up to 1/3 of their gross margins on transportation services. Optimal management of transportation systems is essential to maintain profitability and gain competitive advantage. It carries greater importance when the fleet is owned or leased by the firm. Private fleets are more expensive but often considered to be critical for customer service.

Texas A&M's Route Plus Transportation Routing and Cubing Application is a web based application developed for wholesale and industrial distribution environments that uses cutting edge research in routing and truck loading (cubing). The web based application is centrally managed, easy to use, and addresses a wide range of business specific constraints. The cubing module can be customized for open bed or box trucks. Cubing is performed by customer delivery sequencing, for easy unloading and to reduce reloading/strapping time.

This tool offers the potential to increase asset utilization, save time, help dispatchers, loaders/drivers, and increase customer satisfaction.
